The Christian life is a glorious gift. In Christ, we receive forgiveness, eternal life, fellowship with God, and every spiritual blessing. Yet this gift is often unwrapped in the midst of struggle. To belong to Christ means being brought out of the world’s system and into His Kingdom, and because we belong to Him, we should not be surprised when suffering and opposition come. As we begin our series on First Peter, we journey through the perspective of Peter himself—a close friend and disciple of Jesus—so that we might learn how to live as faithful witnesses in a foreign world. In this sermon, we look at the man, the mission, and the message of First Peter through the life of one who failed deeply, yet was transformed profoundly by the grace of Christ.
