The Costly Joy of Following Jesus

Life is full of trade-offs. Every choice brings both benefits and costs. Some decisions may look good in the short term but prove foolish in the end, while others may seem costly now yet are wiser in the long run. It all depends on the values and perspective we bring to our decisions. In Mark 10:17–31, Jesus gives us His evaluation of the greatest trade-off: to trust and follow Him. He promises not only eternal life, but also a people to belong to—the church, the hundredfold. In this sermon, we ask: Why is following Jesus worth it? We are reminded of the costly joy of discipleship—that there is a real cost to follow Him, and that it ultimately takes a miracle of grace to do so.
